Today’s daily prompt for Bloganuary 2023, Day 13 was “If you had a billion US dollars, how would you spend it?
There are a few things I would do with a billion dollars. Even if my bank account had a vast amount of money – I would still be a sheep farmer. I love being a sheep farmer. I love the sheep.
The purchase of more land, with a home or build my modest dream home of three bedrooms, two bath, barns and pens to have my sheep.
I would raise more than just Dorpers. There are some other breeds I would like to raise if I had room and money to purchase the first sheep.
I would not be a lucrative spender, I have spent a lifetime of being frugal. So the purchase of the land and home would have a budget, as I always have a budget. There would be a new truck, as mine has over 230,000 miles on it. And maybe a new trailer, as my trailer for hauling livestock is getting a little worn out. The stock trailer has more miles on it than the truck.
I would like to help those who are starting their sheep farms or farming. I feel the start up expense is high, and the profits low, that most who desire to be farmers are not able to due to finances. There are fewer farmers today, than a decade before, and the world needs farmers.
I would give each child a million dollars and they would be responsible for how long it lasted and what they did with it. They would also be responsible for their children’s higher education using the money that was given.
There are some charities I would donate to, some of them are research for childhood illnesses and diseases.
If I were the richest person in the world, I would still be a sheep farmer.
