Have you ever asked yourself these questions:
“How do I feel about being a sheep farmer?”
I like being a sheep farmer. I get self-fulfillment being a sheep farmer. I look forward to the different times of lambing. I do have a hard time selling some of my old ewes when the time comes, or selling a lamb I worked really hard to keep alive. The work is daily in all weather, and sometimes it is hard, but I like being a sheep farmer.
I am proud of the animals I own and produce.
“Do I enjoy being a sheep farmer?”
I enjoy the sheep, learning each personality. Watching the lambs play and grow. The birth of new life. Seeing goals being met with my breeding program and business plan.
“Am I getting any better at being a sheep farmer?”
I still have a lot to learn, I do not consider myself a pro at raising sheep. Compared to when I first started raising sheep, I have improved greatly in my abilities. I am becoming a better sheep farmer each day I am raising sheep.
If you can answer “Yes” to these questions : CELEBRATE.
Celebrate that you feel good about what you are doing. People go to work everyday, and do not feel good about what they are doing. Celebrate that you feel good about what you are doing and you get to do it everyday.
Celebrate that you are doing something you enjoy.
Celebrate that you are improving. You may not have been good in school or at other things, but you are improving as a sheep farmer.
Celebrate your own self growth.
Do not be afraid to give yourself a pat on the back for improvement or a job well done.
